Christin Nichols

Writer: Christin Waldmann

Christin Nichols' long-awaited second solo album 'Rette sich, wer kann!' was released on 22.03.24 and frenetically celebrated by all relevant media - e.g. Rolling Stone, Musikexpress, Spiegel Magazin, Zeit Online. Tagesspiegel and Radio Eins both referring to the work as "a masterpiece".

Berlin based Nichols is not only a musician, but a successful actress for TV and theater, as well as a dubbing artist. Nichols' solo debut album 'I'm Fine', released in early 2022, was exactly the album that the guitar music scene in Germany urgently needed: mercilessly confident, but always permeable and tender, angry and wistful, full of great melodies and songs that are just as influenced by contemporary web and pop culture as they are by post-punk and wave. Publications such as Spiegel Online, Zeit Online, Musikexpress, Vogue and Cosmopolitain were full of praise, and with every right in the world: 'I'm Fine' cleared your tired head because you had the feeling that you were listening to a woman who was finding her very own definition of strength.

Her new songs prove how powerful it can sound to openly portray moments of vulnerability. Sometimes these can sound like new beginnings, sometimes like deep thoughts at 3 a.m., then again they seem to waft from the days of the “Paisley Underground” into the present. The famous magic may be inherent in every beginning, of course, but in the end you really need balls in life, especially for the long haul. Nichols says she had to venture further than ever before out of her comfort zone. Even though it was scary. But: where the fear is, that's where it goes.

"While the debut “I'm Fine” impressed with fresh guitar ideas and some exceptional songs, “Rette sich, wer kann” is a complete masterpiece. Nichols tells stories of anger, depression and disorientation in our world in perfectly crafted lyrics." - Radio Eins
