Burger began his career in the late 1980s, becoming a key player in the burgeoning electronic music scene in Cologne. He co-founded the influential label Trance Atlantic, which played a crucial role in promoting the techno sound in Germany. Over the years, he collaborated with other notable artists like Wolfgang Voigt and Mike Ink, contributing to the rise of the minimal techno movement.

One of his most notable projects is The Modernist, under which he released several acclaimed albums, including Opportunity Knox and Explosion. As Triola, Burger explored more ambient and downtempo sounds, showcasing his ability to create deeply emotive and atmospheric music.
