Timo Maas

Writer

Timo Maas carved out a career as one of the most influential figures in electronic music, blending deep, progressive, and tech-infused house sounds with a relentless passion for sonic exploration.

Starting as a DJ in the early ‘80s, Maas built his reputation in the underground scene before breaking through in the late ‘90s with remixes that reshaped dance music, including his legendary take on Azzido Da Bass’ “Doom’s Night.” His 2002 debut album Loud—featuring hits like “To Get Down”—cemented his status as a global electronic force.

Over the years, Maas worked with a diverse range of artists, remixing tracks for the likes of Depeche Mode, Madonna, and Placebo while also collaborating with names like Brian Molko and Kelis. His second album, Pictures (2005), continued his fusion of club-driven beats with crossover appeal.

A mainstay in clubs worldwide, Maas remained a key player in the electronic scene, regularly performing at top venues and festivals while running his own label, Rockets & Ponies. His sound evolved with time, keeping his deep, hypnotic, and atmospheric style at the forefront of underground dance music.
